Helping veterans take their next step to a career in natural resource conservation
GREEN TO GREEN
What we do: The Wildlife & Wilderness Recreation Lab at the Haub School of Natural Resources and Environment offers free services to the veteran community, active duty, reservists, spouses, and dependents looking to start a new career in natural resources and environmental conservation.
Advice on education, GI Bill, and scholarships: We provide no-cost, no-hassle mentorship and advice to those looking to pursue higher education in natural resources and environmental conservation. We often have opportunities for funded graduate degrees. We have a network of veterans willing to take the time to help you plan a career shift to environmental conservation and provide insights into ideal programs that support veterans for those looking to use their GI Bill Benefits. The University of Wyoming is particularly welcoming to veterans with its active Veterans Service Center and its Veteran Trail Crew based in the Wyoming Conservation Corps, but we provide guidance to people looking to start a career anywhere in the country.
Career mentoring: We connect you with lab alumni from every branch to provide guidance for veterans looking for careers in places like the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the US Forest Service, and others. We can connect service members at any phase of their career with veterans working in the place where you want to work one day, and match you with a mentor from your branch. Just send us an email: kelly.dunning@uwyo.edu.
